As the sophistication of suspect devices has increased over time and in different circumstances, the requirement to reliably render safe IEDs has increased.

Disruptors form a core capability of any team involved in rendering safe IEDs. Disruptors inject a column of water at high power to separate the key components of an IED. The Gladiator Disruptor system is a complete suite of disruptors capable of rendering safe small to large IEDs. Powered by an electrically initiated cartridge, Gladiator can also accept different types of cartridges such as 0.50″ calibre, allowing you to use existing cartridges, or cartridges from other disruptor systems.

Gladiator consists of both recoilless and recoiling disruptors with a highly flexible stand capable of positioning the disruptors in a wide variety of positions. Recoilless disruptors are highly effective when the disruptor must not move during the render safe procedure, or when firing from unmanned ground vehicles such as ZEUS.

Recoiling disruptors are quick and easy to deploy when speed, simplicity and low cost are the driving factors.

The Gladiator range of recoilless disruptors are capable of rendering safe a range of large to small sized IEDs found in a wide range of suspect devices.

• The recoilless design ensures minimum collateral damage during firing, as the disruptor does not move.
• Gladiator is the first innovative development in recoilless disruptors for over 20 years, as they do not require 2 separate filling operations for the barrel and compensator. It is simply filled from the front of the barrel, and this automatically fills the compensator. This process is significantly faster and easier than all other currently available recoilless disruptors. Due to its simplicity, it is also significantly less prone to operator error during loading.
• Gladiator are also shorter and lighter than all other currently available recoilless disruptors due to the unique design. Gladiator are the only recoilless disruptor where the compensator sits over the barrel, making the whole unit much shorter.
• Gadiator are also the only recoilless disruptors on the market that have an interchangeable breach, allowing different styles of cartridges to be fitted including aluminium cartridges and 0.50” calibre cartridges (optional).
• Gladiator are designed to be fired many thousands of times and are manufactured entirely from stainless steel ensuring full corrosion resistance.
• Gladiator are supplied with a lightweight manual stand, allowing the disruptor to be placed in a wide range of shot positions.

The Cutlass disruptor, fitted with the de-armer barrel is able to fire a selection of steel slugs, chisels and forks to remove or neutralise the fuzes of air dropped unexploded ordnance and some land service ammunition. It may also be used to neutralise IEDs such as pipe bombs and other metal cased suspect devices.

There are times and situations where a basic recoiling disruptor is still the tool of choice. They are low cost, quicker to deploy, despite their disadvantages, and offer a capable solution.
